Apple presents its own operating system for the iPad
The company has presented the news at WWDC 2019, its annual developer conference.
Apple presented Monday at WWDC 2019, its annual developer conference held in San Jose (California), its new operating system iPad OS for their iPad tablets, which stop using the iOS mobile system -used by iPhones-.
The company that runs Tim Cook has also announced updates to the operating system for Apple Watch, WatchOS 6, and Mac computers, macOS 10.15 Catalina.
IPadOS has a home screen similar to the current one, and the main novelties are focused on improving the options to work with several screens open at the same time, the possibility of opening the contents of SD cards and USB memories directly in the application. files and a reduction of the latency of the digital pen from 20 to 9 milliseconds.
With regard to the Apple Watch, the new operating system, the WatchOS 6, will allow direct access to the virtual app store "app store" autonomously, that is, without relying on the iPhone. Although the smart watch still has to be linked to the phone, the fact that you can buy and download applications directly from the device greatly increases your autonomy.
In addition to eliminating iTunes, macOS Catalina presents as a main novelty the compatibility with applications designed for iPad, so that developers who until now focused exclusively on tablets will be able to move their products to Mac computers.
All these ads eclipsed what is traditionally WWDC's highlight, the iOS update for iPhones, which in its thirteenth version introduces the dark mode for the entire system. With this move, Apple joins a generalized trend in the industry that allows to increase the time of battery autonomy.
The new operating systems will be available in beta for developers starting this Monday and in beta for the general public from July, and the official release will be in the autumn.
